‘It is the essential knowledge that pupils need to be educated citizens, introducing them to the best that has been thought and said and helping to engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.' National Curriculum
By developing cultural capital, we ensure that our pupils have exposure to experiences and background knowledge that will equip them with the foundations and cultural knowledge necessary for success in future education and careers.
Cultural capital is developed through pupils attending events and venues as well as through their active participation. We recognise that it is vital for the children not only to observe but also to participate actively, visualising themselves doing the same in the future. They can then draw on their experiences to create their own artistic impressions and creative performances, as well as develop their skills and talents based on what they have experienced.
We are committed to providing a wide variety of exciting, stimulating, and challenging opportunities across the curriculum. Learning is enhanced and further embedded by the range of enrichment activities provided. School trips, visiting specialists, themed days, and weeks are directly linked to topics across a range of subject areas, providing pupils with opportunities to learn in different environments and improve their writing outcomes by enriching their vocabulary.

Hi! My name’s Ally, and I’m the owner of AK Coaching. I’ve been running PE lessons and after-school clubs here at EM since 2013, first for a previous company and then since 2020, when I set up my own coaching company. AK Coaching delivers action-packed after-school sports clubs here at EM every Monday. We offer a wide range of sports, with Football and MultiSports being the most popular. Whatever the activity, we always focus on making every session fun, inclusive, and confidence-building for all children, no matter their ability. At AK, every child gets a chance to shine!

Hello, I’m Natalie, owner of Kidz Love Yoga. I’ve been teaching children’s yoga for fifteen years and offering after-school yoga sessions on Tuesdays with the children at EM since 2019.
At the heart of Kidz Love Yoga sessions are the children themselves. My interactive, inclusive yoga sessions not only focus on the physical yoga postures but also on yogic breathing, mindfulness, meditation and relaxation. Yoga is a fantastic way to teach our children about the world, nature, their emotions, mind and their physical bodies allowing them to radiate happiness, kindness, confidence, resilience and have fun!

Hi, I’m another Ali! I run the after-school gardening club on a Monday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm at English Martyrs. I have been gardening with children both in and after school for a number of different schools in Rugby since 2021. The clubs runs all year round and in the colder months or if the weather is bad we jump inside to do other creative things often using nature or the outside world as our resource!
At gardening club we nurture lots of different areas: flower planters, vegetable beds, insect hotels and birdfeeders to name but a few! Gardening offers the children so much; physical activity, teamwork, responsibility and ownership, problem solving, increased self esteem not to mention encouraging them to eat their vegetables - so much more exciting eating something that you grew yourself!! I love watching the children build friendships and having fun whilst instilling a lifelong
appreciation for nature and their outside world.
I have 10 places in this club and I take block bookings a half term at a time - drop me a line to check for availability at thegardenerette72@gmail.com
